Katie's Baptism

Our niece, Katie, recently turned 8 and we were able to be there for her baptism and birthday party. Gwen loves seeing baptisms, and was especially excited to see Katie's since she is one of her favorites. Katie was so sweet and let Gwen sit right next to her on the front row during the program. It made Gwen's day!

I tried to get a photo of just the three siblings, but Gwen really wanted to be in the shot

Fiona waited patiently for the program to start

Before things got started, we took some time to take a few group photos...

Us again.

The baptism was wonderful, but things got a little hysterical near the end. To wrap things up, the bishop got up and gave a few remarks and talked about the importance of being persistent and never giving up. He told a story about how he took up biking as a hobby. He explained that going up the hill to his house was very difficult. At first, he often didn't get going fast enough and would lose his momentum in the middle of the steep hill. He couldn't get his shoes off of the pedal clips in time and would often tip over. I started laughing out loud because the image of somebody tipping over with their feet stuck to the pedals struck me somewhat humorous. I was a little embarrassed when I realized I was the only one laughing.
Then as he was getting to his point about how even though it was hard, and he often fell over, he never gave up- Gwen yells to him, "You should have just gone another way!" Then, a few minutes later, she loudly exclaims, "I never fall off my bike!"
I was laughing so hard, tears were streaming down my face. I couldn't believe me own daughter was actually heckling a bishop right in the middle of his talk. Hey, at least she was listening.
After the baptism, we headed over to Jeff and Krissy's place for lunch and to celebrate Katie's birthday. First we took a few more family photos because we didn't get enough at the baptism.

Newlyweds- Kirk and Whitney.

Fiona is so cute...let's see that closer

Now even closer

The morning took a toll on Rick and Fiona. They spent most of the party asleep

I just realized that I got photos of pretty much everybody except for Cathy. That's ok, she doesn't read my blog anyway, so she'll never know. Serves her right. That's right, I said it. Anyway, her legs in the following photo are proof that she was there. Her legs are 20 times nicer than mine and she's 60. Actually, at the time, she was 59, so maybe that makes up the difference.

Gwen has a hard time containing her excitement when people hold presents. She gets right up in their business. I finally told her that I would give her full access of my camera if she would just sit on my lap for a while. Here is a sampling of her handiwork.

Fiona and Rick eventually woke up, although she doesn't look too please about it. I love her little pointed chin framed by all that kissable baby fat.

Something about this photo makes me think of Keifer Sutherland...

the end.

Oh my gosh, that was funny. Heard the bike story once, but it was even funnier in writing. Love the Keifer pose.

Your post had me giggling out loud. You are too funny, and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I guess now that Gwen's 4, she has wisdom to share! Love it!
