Day Out With Thomas

Once again, I didn't get tickets for the Day Out With Thomas tour. Since Fiona was only going to be two months old, I wasn't sure if we would be up for it. Plus, the tickets are really pricey.

I came to regret this decision. Gwen loves Thomas so much! I started looking for tickets on craigslist and soon realized that these tickets aren't easy to come by. I had almost given up when somebody contacted me and told me that not only did they have tickets for me, but they wanted to give them to us for free. He even took the bus downtown to hand deliver them to Rick's office. How nice is that?!?

To surprise Gwen, we told her that we were just going to a fun park. When we got to the parking lot of the Thomas event, we pulled out her engineer's hat and scarf and told her what we were really doing. She was glad to be there but was a little overwhelmed. I've now realized that she is the type of girl who doesn't do as well with surprises. It is easier for her when we tell her about something in advance so that she can mentally prepare herself for it. But, once she warmed up to it, she did awesome.

They had lots of things to do at the train depot while waiting for out turn to ride Thomas. We really liked looking at the historic trains.

Gwen loved getting a Thomas tattoo

Gwen was a little overwhelmed (a.k.a. uncooperative) during picture taking time. Most of the time, we couldn't even get her to take her eyes off Thomas.

They had lots of other fun backdrops to take other photos...

We were really glad that we got tickets for an early morning train ride. The morning sun was nice and warm, and it was very peaceful at the train depot. Gwen got to enjoy all of the activities without fighting through the crowds.

It was a little busy by the remote control trains. Gwen patiently waited her turn to be the driver.

Sir Toppham Hatt was there for photos. Somebody was too shy to go near him.

Finally it was our turn to ride the train. It was awesome!

Fiona was an angel the whole morning. I couldn't help worrying a little bit about her because her skin- especially around the eyes- was getting worse! I was also concered because she looked so malnourished. Ha! Just kidding!

After we rode Thomas, we hung around long enough to take a turn on a speeder car. I have never seen one of these before, but we learned that these replaced the old fashioned pump cars. It was fun!

When ran into one of Gwen's friends from her primary class. She was thrilled to ride with him on the speeder car!

Fiona was OK with riding the speeder car too.

What a fun day!

I wouldn't get near that Sir Topham Hat either.

My kids LOVED Day out with Thomas. I would do it again in a minute except the day we went it was 102 degrees. I would like it even more if it were a little cooler. Looked like a successful family outing.

Yeah, Toppham looks like a serial killer.

I debated getting tickets to the Thomas train too, both the boys love Thomas. Looks like I missed out on lots of fun.
