As soon as the ultrasound confirmed our baby was a girl, Rick was itching to paint. It didn't take him long to turn the walls a delicious strawberry milkshake pink that looks good enough to eat.
One thing that we hesitated on for a while was the wall lettering for her name. Displaying a name on the wall is so final. We wanted to be sure of our decision. But, we finally found our perfect name...
Her first and middle name will be Fiona Violet. I think it is the sweetest name in the world- ok, tied with Gwendolyn Rose. I actually need to give credit to me dear friend Rachel who first suggested the name for me. Thank you Rachel! (I hope you weren't planning on using this one for one of your babies!)
We were surprised to find that Fiona and Gwen's names actually share some commonalities...
1. Fiona means "white and fair" and Gwendolyn means "white brow". We must really love the color white!
2. Both names are of Celtic origin.
3. Both girls share their first names with musicians (Gwen Stefani and Fiona Apple).
4. Both girls will have flowers for middle names. Ok, that was totally on purpose. We are total hippies, but I want to have a whole bouquet of sweet baby girls, although we are running out of flower name ideas.
Here are more shots of Fiona's room. We will have to add some wall decorations and some accessories, but that might take us a while.
I don't always love valances, but we weren't about to let it go to waste!
My favorite thing in the room is the dresser. My mom found it at a garage sale and passed it on to us. Rick added fresh white paint and then added green accents. I think it turned out so cute!
I found this cute lamp at Target that looked like it was custom made to match the dresser
Our sweet friend, Charlotte, gave us this adorable pillow that looks so cute in the room

the room turned out fabulous, just like I knew it would! I think Fiona is the perfect fit and I am so excited to meet her. Come soon little one!
Fiona's room is beautiful! You guys did a great job! She is pretty lucky to have such wonderful parents.
BTW, I am bringing dinner one night after she is home. We can discuss details later.
love the room and LOVE the name!
I have a friend that once made a list of 25 possible flower names for future babies... so if you really do hit a dead end, let me know - and I'll get you in touch. :)
I can't wait to see pictures of baby Fiona in her adorable room! Everything looks fab!!
Nathan and I have friends whose little girl is also Fiona. I love the nursery, it's just precious! Hopefully I'll make it to WA this summer to meet your newest addition in person. Love the flowers for middle names, so creative!
That room is fantastic! And the name is darling. What will you do for boys' middle names, if you have any?
So cute! :-D
The nursery is so very cute! I'm so excited for you guys.
Oh wow, how the time flys! You are getting so close! Fionas nursery is just beautiful, and what a great name you have chosen for her!
I love the name too. Another thing both girls names share is they both sound like princess names! Oh and I love Daphne (which kind of sounds like Daffodil)if you need another flower for the next little princess.
The dresser turned out wonderful. Tell Rick I give it two thumbs up. Three if he has three.
Gwen is going to be a sister soon, wow. I wonder how she will respond the first time she sees Fiona.
Love ya...
Ma
I adore the nursery! You always do such a cute job with rooms; I think I need you to come over & give me some ideas for my girls' rooms! Oh, and I was going to claim the name credit. ;) It's such a beautiful name. My little niece is named it unfortunately it was already off limits for me. I can't wait to meet little Fiona very soon!
"... I want to have a whole bouquet of sweet baby girls..."
I love that! What a wonderful image.
The decorating is beautiful! I love that you and Rick enjoy doing that together-- what a fun hobby.
