I was gone all day at a church meeting. While I was gone, my sweet husband got the house ready for the party and then planned a game for the kids to play while they were here. The game had several different events and the kids had a blast doing it.
My favorite part of the game was that Rick had a big sheet of paper listing all of the events in order as well as a large score sheet. Instead of just taping these to the wall, he taped it to a broken door that had been in our garage for months and propped it against the wall it the toy room.
My first reaction when I got home was....why is there a broken door in the playroom? Rick is so funny. He said that he would be writing on the paper and didn't want it to bleed through to the wall. That totally made sense. I just was suprised to see the door in there. I know, this is only funny to me.
Rick split the kids into teams of two. I can't remember all of the events, but the photos sure help job my memory.
Event #1: Fly It! The kids made paper airplanes and competed to see who could fly theirs the furthest.
Event #2: Act It! This was some sort of version of charades.
Event #3: Draw It! The kids had to draw pics of Grandma and Grandpa who had to be judges and choose their favorites.

Event #4: Jump It! This was a long jump competition.

Event #6: Roll It! The kids had to roll the ball closest to the wall without actually hitting it.

Event #7: Break It! The kids had a little "Break the Ice" tourney.

Event #8: Walk It! The kids had to get a prop out of Gwen's dress up bin and have a "walk off" on the catwalk. I think Great-Grandma was the judge.

Event #9: Watch It! Rick played a clip from the Curious George movie and had the kids answer questions about it.

Of course, Rick is a totally softie and somehow made the scores come out very even so nobody would feel bad. In the end, I think Jared and Andrew won. The prize was a SpongeBob SquarePants game, so I have a feeling he already knew who was going to win when he bought the prize.

Event #5: Read It! The kids were assigned scripture stories to read and then had to take a quiz after it.

Mmmmm. Donuts.
My oldest doesn't like cake, either, so we always did ice cream for his birthday.
Looks like a great party. I'm impressed!
Rick is so good with the kids! I am impressed with his creativity.
