Our Story: Preparing for the Big Day

Shortly after Rick and I were engaged, school was out and it was time to go home for the summer. We were excited to be one step closer to getting married, but dreading living so far apart. Rick's family was in Bothell and mine was in Renton- 45 minutes apart- on a good day. This was a lot different from across the hall.

Throughout the summer, we talked on the phone like crazy and made plans to see each other after work on Wednesday and on the weekends. We alternated either staying in Bothell for the weekend or staying in Renton.

We also kept busy planning the wedding. The first order of business was getting engagement photos taken so that we could send out the announcements. My awesome sister-in-law, Audra, did an amazing job taking pictures for us...

We choose this one. This was the front cover of the invitation

That summer, my mom's best friend Carolyn threw me a fantastic shower. We ate yummy food and played silly games...

And, of course we got a lot of thoughtful gifts...

My best friend's mom thought she could embarrass me by getting me some skanky panties. I wore them proudly on my head. I still own these- thanks Jodi! Rick likes them too. :)

After the shower, my mom took a photo of all the loot. I have many generous friends. But, I wasn't sure what to do with the plastic celery.

As the wedding day grew closer, we started getting more gifts in the mail. Because we are bad, we would always open them right away. It doesn't hurt to get a jump start on thank you cards, right? One time a gift came in the mail in the middle of the week and it was going to be a day or two before I saw Rick. I was too impatient and opened it. He was kinda ticked about this.

Three days before the wedding, our families joined us at the temple for my first official visit. It was a very special day for us.

Only three days to go and then it would be our big day. I was so excited, I could hardly sleep at night.

Those pics came out great.

I think every Mormon in the world has a relative do their wedding pictures. Earl (Daniel's brother) did ours.

I didn't have a relative do my pictures. I didn't even get an invite. I'm so sure.

I must admit that reading all this is bringing back memories of you guys like crazy and Janae and I really miss you. Do you remember us, I was the nerdy guy that worked with Rick, 2 desks down from him, I sat next to the girl who drove over the cat and came into work crying and then we made her feel worse by making fun of her....

You guys also came to our house and hung out sometimes, we lived in the dorm prisons with cinder block walls, aka Wymount. My wife is really hot and I was the nerdy guy and you felt sorry for her for being married to me. Also, the IRS messed up on our last name and we never got our tax return for a year....

j/k. Thanks for the pictures, it was fun. Wow, love the skanky undies.....
