We always had fun together, whether we were out at a formal date or just hanging out. The next few months were full of great memories.
We played lots of Yahtzee together. We kept a tally of wins and losses on Rick's apartment wall. I can't remember who won the most games. In the photo below, we were using a paper towel roll as a shaker. I also had something in my nose. It was probably a penalty for a bad turn...
In early March, my roommate Jeni and I asked Rick and Dave (also roommates) to Preference. It is a semi-formal dance held at BYU that is ladies choice.
I made a cute sign asking Rick to accompany me to the dance. Later, there was a knock on my front door. I opened it and saw this...
I guess that meant he wanted to go to the dance with me.
Jeni and I made the date surround around an outdoors theme. We called it "Camp Preference". We decorated the lounge with a paper fire and trees and also put up a tent where we all ate dinner cooked on the BBQ. We even had the guys go "fishing" with our makeshift poles and pond.

The guys showed up to "camp" with funny name tags...

Later, we changed into our nice clothes and headed for the dance. But, first we had to take a few snap shots...
Something I really appreciated about Rick was his creativity. One night we were bored, trying to think of something to do. He suggested that we relive our high school science days and do an egg drop. We got a couple eggs and some random household items and set out to see who could build a shelter for our egg that would survive the three story fall. I can't even remember who's egg won, but I do remember that my egg had matches around it. It caught on fire when it landed three stories down, right on someone's front porch. That was awesome.

Rick and I also took a trip down to St. George and stayed with his grandparents. We found a box of awesome old clothes and wore them to play tennis on the court in their backyard.
At this point, Rick and I were getting really serious. One night Rick told me that he thought he was "falling in love with me." I don't remember exactly when this was- the one thing I can't remember- but it was sometime in March. That was pretty quick for having just had our first date at the end of January.
By the end of March, we were already taking marriage. I was a little worried about things moving so fast, but I love him so much that I didn't care.
At the same time, I knew that I had a bit of a history of not being the best judge of husband material. I was very serious with someone who would have been a horrible match for me. I started to wonder again....How do I know if it's right?
I was talking to a friend at work about my situation. I told my friend that I wanted to marry Rick, but I wanted to be sure that it was right. My friend asked me a series of questions...
1. Do you want to marry him? Yes
2. As a couple, do you logically seem like a good match (ie, do you have the same values, likes, dislikes, do you like his family, etc.) Yes
3. Does he have qualities that would make a decent husband (ie, will he be a good provider, does he have a hard work ethic, etc.) Yes
As we were having this conversation, it hit me all at once. It was right. Not only was it something that my heart really wanted, but it just made sense logically. I realized that there wasn't any reason not to marry him. All at once, I made my decision and I was 100% at peace with it.

Man! This story is AWESOME. No more daytime soaps for me needed.
I can't *imagine* my kids having a different uncle than Rick. You could NOT have done any better. He is one stud.

I'm lovin' it too! I had to get on a read before I went to bed to see if you had any updates!!!
What a great story! Anna Marie, you could always tell a good story especially when it comes to your romantic life. I just love that about you.
You guys look like you're about 10 years old. I'm loving this story.
P.S. Why don't you use shampoo?
Okay, I'm pretty sure I have the same dress that you're wearing in your dance picture! You must have great taste! ;)

Happy Anniversary, Beans! Can't wait to hear more!
Swim class was fun today - except for when everyone was already in the pool and I had to walk my white, chubby self into the water in front of everyone...that was awesome!
Rick & Anna Marie...A blue & pink dart forever lit in unity....
