Trapping Leprechauns

We had a blast celebrating St. Patrick's Day this year! My creative friend, Emily, told me all of the fun things they do in her house to celebrate the holiday. We stole some of her clever ideas and had our own fun!

The night before St. Patrick's Day, we explained to Gwen that a leprechaun was going to come to our house. We said that leprechauns are sneaky and will try to play tricks on us. We told her if we caught it, he would have to grant us a wish. If he got away, he would leave us a suprise. Gwen helped us set a "trap" for the leprechaun. We decorate a cardboard box with festive stickers, (to attract his attention) and we propped up with box with a stick. We put green hershey kisses under the box as bait. We told Gwen we would check in the morning to see if the leprechaun came.

Getting our trap ready

After Gwen went to bed, Rick and I proceeded to set up leprechaun "tricks." We also left a trail of "leprechaun dust" around the house. It appears the leprechaun caused all sorts of trouble...

The leprechaun turned over chairs

The leprechaun made green food

The leprechaun turned the toilet water green

The leprechaun rolled up rugs and left out shoes

The leprechaun knocked over the rocking chair

The leprechaun ate the chocolate and knocked over the trap, but is he in there? The leprechaun was too smart for our trap, but he left Gwen some cute sunglasses and flip flops!

Gwen thought the leprechaun was very silly and insisted on fixing everything right away. She was a little scared once we got to the box. I felt a kinda bad! After we were done, she helped me clean up the leprechaun dust

Gwen sweeping dust

Gwen didn't miss a speck of dust!

Checking the ground for any dust that might have gotten away

Of course, I got video footage of the event, but they are a little it's a little bit shaky since Gwen kept wanting me to stop and fix everything. I took two videos but the second one is too big to post. I might edit it later and post it...

When Rick got home that night, we enjoyed some corned beef and cabbage for dinner and some green lemon bars. After a busy day of celebrating, Rick and Gwen had a little rest together!

This is so cute - what fun parents you are. All I ever got for St. Patty's Day was a pinch from Greg (but, I probably cried and got my way, so it didn't really matter...)

We had a BLAST tonight - thanks guys, let's do it again soon!

Priceless. Gwen must have been so excited to see the leprechaun's trail. We had a little fun with the tooth fairy, but nothing as clever as this.
