Valentine's Day 2008

As always, Valentine's Day was memborable this year. The day started out great when we all got to sleep in until 8:00! (Rick didn't have to be into work as early as usual.) When Gwen went downstairs in the morning, she had a card and a huge balloon that played "Wild Thing" waiting for her. It is fun that she is so easy to please. She played it over and over all morning.

After Rick left for work, I took Gwen out to breakfast at the Snohomish Bakery and Cafe. I was planning getting her something at least somewhat healthy, but as soon as she walked in, she saw a heart-shaped cream puff. I figured it was a special day, so I let her get it. Of course she only ate the cream out of the center and I eventually talked her into a few bites of bacon.

After Gwen's nap, we decorated some heart-shaped rice krispy treats and packed up a basket full of candy. I put Gwen in a cute red dress and I got a little dolled up myself. We then headed to downtown Seattle to visit Rick at work at Wells Fargo. (Gwen calls it "Fargos".) Rick loved showing Gwen off to his co-workers and we even took her around to see several of the exectives and hand out some candy. Rick loves to rub shoulders with the big wigs; having Gwen and me there gives him an excuse to go and talk to them. His annual review is coming up, so it doesn't hurt to do a little sucking up, right?

When we got home from Seattle, Rick broke the "no present" rule and gave Gwen a sticker book and me a crock pot cookbook. Although I didn't get Rick a present, I got him a card that had us both cracking up....

We can totally relate to this card because this has happened to us SO many times. I have to start remembering to put Rick's name on his lunch. :)

We decided to end the day with a quiet evening at home. After putting Gwen to bed, we had some take-out Thai food, and then we watched Lost (which is a must-see for us). A quiet, relaxing evening was just what we needed!

I LOVE the card! Do you make his lunch every day or was this a special occasion lunch?
