Mother's Day

I already was of the opinion that Rick is the best husband on the planet, but now I'm pretty sure he might be the best in the galaxy.

This past Mother's Day he secretly contacted the husbands of some of my girlfriends. They arranged a getaway for us at a hotel in downtown Kirkland. It was awesome! The only thing un-awesome about it was that there were some last minute cancellations and we couldn't all be together. Their excuses were pretty legit.....childbirth, unexpected foster baby, etc.

TeriAnne and I ended up being the only ones to spend the night, although Emily met up with us for dinner and girl talk in the room.

Emily and TeriAnne

TeriAnne and I on our balcony- this place was posh!
After a delicious Italian meal, we burned off a minuscule amount of calories walking down to the waterfront and watching the sunset. It was a gorgeous night!

When I unpacked my bag, I found that Gwen had snuck in a few surprises for me: a picture of her, a lovie, and a stuffed walrus. The hotel had turn down service and laid them out nicely along with complimentary chocolates, earplugs, and eye masks. Did I mention this place was posh?

After dinner we played some cards and lounged in our robes and complimentary slippers. Nice.

To end the night we had some a.maze.ing desserts from a place called Sweet Cakes. Go there and get their peanut butter bars. They are totally worth the drive. Pick me up one while you are at it.
TeriAnne and I were really excited to sleep in. Unfortunately, we both woke up at 7:00 am. What? Lame. We stayed in bed and talked until 9:30 before we finally gave up and got up.
We decided to get breakfast at the restaurant at the hotel. It turned out to be a great decision. We sat outside, soaked in the sun and people-watched while we ate our breakfast as slowly as possible. It was awesome.

After breakfast, we walked back down to the waterfront to sit in the sun for a few more minutes and said goodbye to the lake. Then it was time to head for home to see my sweet girls and husband whom I missed dearly. I loved my time away, but I was definitely happy to see them!

That looks like so much fun! What a great gift. :-D Are you going to return the favor and give Rick a slumber party with his guy friends?
