Birch Bay Part Six: Plover Ferry

As much as I enjoy my time at Birch Bay, sometimes it gets a little predictable because we do the same thing every year. This year, we did something we had never done before, which was a refreshing change. It turned out to be one of my favorite activities we have ever done at Birch Bay!

Jessica found out about a free Ferry that runs from Semiahmoo over to Blaine, called the Plover Ferry. We barely missed the boat when we got there, but we didn't mind exploring Semiahmoo while we waited. It is so pretty there!

The ferry arrives!

The ferry was awesome! The captain and the crew were very knowledgeable about the boat's history and also told us a lot about the area.

There were harbor seals sunning themselves everywhere!

All of the kids got a turn driving the boat and then got "Honorary Captain" certificates. The kids thought it so cool. I secretly really wanted a turn too.

Fiona and Charlie woke up to enjoy the ride

At the marina at Blaine, there were two very famous ships moored: The one used for filming in Master and Commander and the one used in filming for Pirates of the Caribbean. They were offering tours of the ships, but we didn't have time. Bummer! I'm definitely doing the tour next year!

What a fun way to end an awesome week at Birch Bay!

Anna Marie,
I'm a friend of Cheryl and Connors and have stalked your blog for sometime now. Gwen's humor can suck even a stranger in!

Just decided it was time to finally say Hi and thanks for the laughs!
