My good friend, Dzana told me about the "Teddy Bear Clinic" that the local fire station was hosting yesterday. It was an open house that allowed families to tour the fire station, check out the ambulance and engines, and learn about how firefighters take care of people who are hurt.
The children were encouraged to bring their teddy bears so that the firefighters could demonstrate how they administer first aid on them. Poor Mr. Brown Bear coded, but the skilled firefighters were able to resuscitate him.
Gwen also learned how to call 911 so she could have someone come and help Daddy who was pretending to be hurt.
Poor Mr Brown Bear had a rough day. After looking death in the eye, he also suffered a leg injury.
Apparently we aren't the only ones that think Gwen is adorable. A lady from the Everett Herald asked if she could take Gwen's photo for the paper. I need to go pick up a copy and see if she's in there!

Another firefighter demonstrated how he gets all of his gear on. Gwen did not like how the final product looked. I'm afraid that if somebody like this ever tries to rescue her in a fire, she will run the other way.

As soon as we left, Gwen said, "I really want to be a firefighter when I grow up!" She talked about it all day. For several more hours she insisted that she wear her firefighter hat, gloves, boots, and flashlight. I love a girl in uniform!

Gwen is too cute! that's great she learned all those awsesome skills, esp calling 911!
Look at her face and in most pictures Gwen is so engaged. She is always like that. So, teachable and curious. I think it is a great idea to educate the children and take the fear factor out of firemen and aspects of their jobs, etc. I am so impressed -- pretty day and all.
