Amnio Results

After waiting all morning, I finally got the results from the amniocentesis at noon. Fiona scored an 85, and anything over 45 is considered mature. Looks like she's got strong lungs!

While on the phone, the nurse also told me that I needed to come in asap to get this lovely thing called a foley catheter. I hadn't heard about this before, but apparently it's purpose is to further dilate my cervix tonight so that we are primed and ready to go tomorrow. (Sorry to my readers who don't want to know about my cervix). I think it's other purpose is to torture pregnant women who aren't already in enough pain according to some criteria that I'm not aware of.

It would have been nice to get some sort of prior indication that I might need this instead of 1.5 hours notice. I had to pack up Gwen and hightail it over to the doctors office. As it turns out, this thing is not comfortable and I'm counting down the minutes until Rick gets home. Right now I'm passing the time by letting Gwen eat popsicles in the bathtub.

The awesome news is that there is no turning back now!

AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!! Oh my gosh! I hope that's the last of any weird stuff they plan on doing to you. That sounds very unpleasant. Any word yet on what time your induction will be?

Good news about her lungs! Yay!

Hey girl!! Thinking great thoughts for you today!!! I can't wait to see pictures of your new little princess Fiona! Glad all went as planned - I had to postpone the scheduled births of all 3 kids because of premature lungs and Aidan and Mylie both had to be in the NICU. Mature lungs is the greatest blessing for your little one!!!!
