Our Sweet Baby is a...

GIRL!
I was starting to get some hate mail, so I figured I better end the suspense. Most of you thought boy, but Kelsey was right- 3 lines equal a girl.

We are thrilled to have another little precious little girl in our family! We are excited to start thinking about names, decorating the nursery, and preparing for this sweet girl to join us.

The ultrasound was such a neat experience. The moment the ultrasound technician got started, we got a clear view of our little one's goods. She was so kind to not keep us in suspense! We were able to enjoy looking at all of the images of her without wondering if she would cooperate and give us a good shot of what we really wanted to see.

Gwen was so cute during the appointment and was very curious about everything. She asked lots of questions, made lots of comments, and was just too cute in general. Here are a few things she said and did...

  • While looking at a clear image of the baby she said, "That's so awesome!"
  • Gwen commented over and over about how she was going to love, kiss, rock, hold, feed the baby, and put her in her crib.
  • She played peek-a-boo with the image of the baby on the computer
  • Gwen said on two different occasions, "I wish I was pregnant and had a baby in my belly."
  • She sadly said, "I wish the baby was mine." I told her we could share and that seemed to help a little bit.
  • Gwen said, "I'm going to feed the baby milk. Not you mommy. I'm going to do it."

The rest of the day, Gwen and I talked a lot about the baby. She also brought out her doctor's kit a couple times during the day and used a straw on my belly to give me an ultrasound. She put the straw in my belly button and said that's how we can see the baby's nose. She moved the straw around different parts of my belly, pointed out all of the different parts of the baby we were looking at. Oh, and a couch pillow was the monitor.

Here are the shots we got from the ultrasound...

Love this one below- it's the four chambers of her heart

Congratulations on your pregnancy. We just found out last week that we are going to have a boy. When is your due date? They moved mine up a week to May 25th so that puts me at 20 weeks now. I am pokin' out now and am so glad to finally be looking pregnant and not just fat. Hope you are feeling well. I check your blog frequently and love reading about all that is going on in your lives. Oh, by the way, I don't know if you remember Jess, who roomed with me when we were togther. She just gave birth to a baby girl a few weeks ago. Her first. They are so happy, and are now looking for a house where they live in Santa Barbara. EXPENSIVE!!
Well not much else to report, hope you are doing well. I am thinking about you. Check my blog and you will see lovely boy sonogram pictures also.

Congratulations on your baby girl news! Gwen is going to be a great big sister, even if she gets out-voted on the name suggestions...
We have a funny story about names that you should ask Kelsey to tell you about!

Sisters and best friends, can't get better than that. We are hoping for a girl too. Thanks for the heads up on what to look for. With two boys and BBW running in our family I wouldn't know a girl if she kicked me in the face, I mean belly.

Rick... i will let you use Barry if you wish. If you spell it like "Barrie" or "Berry" it is very useful for a girl. At least now i know you can't steal my baby boy's name ;)Those are some great head shots of the kiddo!
