Pizza Night

Our friends, the Johnson's, have the cutest little boys. Sometimes I secretly make plans for my girlies to marry them.

One night we were watching the boys and we decided to have English muffin pizza's and smoothies. The kids loved making their own pizzas...

I also had plenty of help available for the smoothie making...

Gavin, on the other hand, wasn't interested in helping with the smoothies and spent some time hiding on the loveseat. Maybe it was too loud for him.

I can hear wedding bells already!

Once There Was a Snowman

There was a little bit of snow waiting for us in Colorado when we got back from Seattle. Gwen was excited to build a snowman with her friend Kaitlyn.

I was a little bit perplexed by the bottom rock. I tried to convince Gwen that it didn't need to be there, but her mind was made up. I'm glad it was in the backyard.

When the snowman was almost melted, it snowed again!

And brrrr, it was cold! So cold that there was ice on the windows in the house. That probably means my windows are bad. Very bad.

I love how the snow builds up on the windowsills when the wind blows.

Colorado is gorgeous in the winter!

Christmas Tree

Yep, I'm six months behind on blogging. What's a girl to do?

This year we finally got an artificial Christmas tree. I'm not happy about it. I could defend our reasoning, but I'm already too far behind on my blog to start in on lengthly explantions.

Anyway...decorating the tree is always fun and Fiona was able to get in on the action this year. Gwen showed her the ropes...

We also decided to give the girls each a gift to start off the Christmas season- something they could enjoy for the month. Gwen enjoyed her Christmas jammies and Fiona was excited about her Christmas VeggieTale movie.

More Christmas posts to come soon!

Halloween Eve

We spent the day on Halloween Eve getting ready for the big day. We carved pumpkins (which Fiona LOVED)...

We dined on Frankenberry and Count Chocula (the Boo Berry was already eaten)...

We decorated cookies...

I think Rick wins the award for tallest cookie...

And we patiently waited until dark so we could fully enjoy our pumpkins...

Rick's was definitely the best...

Leaf Raking

Seattle definitely beats Denver in a few areas....lush green trees, a gorgeous coast, and our extended family is there too, which makes it highly desirable. But, Colorado has a few things on Seattle...for one thing, leaves.

Raking leaves in Seattle is not a lot of fun. The are wet and mushy and getting them off the lawn is a pain. Raking leaves in Denver, on the other hand, should be declared a national holiday!

We had so much fun raking leaves that we did our lawn and our neighbors lawn. By the time we were done, half of the neighbor kids had joined us.

Fiona, Savannah (a neighbor), and Gwen

Pretty soon, the kids formed a line and took turns jumping into the leaves...

Getting buried

One last hurrah before bagging up the leaves...

One thing that a picture can't capture is the smell. The scent of crisp autumn leaves is just divine! I'm thinking about planting a few more trees in the near future to give us a few more leaves to rake. Ok, not really. Well, maybe.
