Live Nativity

This season we have been looking for opportunities to teach Gwen about Christ to help her understand the true meaning for Christmas. We were excited to attend a live nativity put on by the Kirkland Stake. Rick wasn't feeling well that night, so he stayed home with Fiona.

Andy, Jessica and Charlie are always up for a good time, so they came along to join in on the fun. It was cold outside, but fortunately we didn't have to wait too long before it began.

Gwen loved the donkey, sheep, and little cow looking thing. They didn't allow flash photography, so I couldn't get a good photo.

The nativity itself was awesome. It was simple, pure- not a lot of pomp and circumstance to detract from the spirit. Gwen loved it too. When the wise men came, she yelled out, "Where is the Frankenstein?"
Inside, the cultural hall was decorated beautifully with several nativity scenes on display. They had a special kids table set up with kid-friendly nativities to play with and coloring pages.

And how could I forget Charlie? What a cutie!

Lastly, we made a stop at the refreshment room where they served breads, hot chocolate, apple juice, and hot apple cider. They were also playing a movie, "Joy to the World", that Gwen really wanted to stay and watch. Since the rest of us were ready to leave, we compromised and promised that she could watch it when we got home- which she held me to. Gwen really enjoyed this event and I was so grateful to have the opportunity for her to learn about Christ and the miracle of his birth. What a great way to start off the Christmas season!
