Fiona's Second Day

We survived our first night at the hospital and were looking forward to going home. I was feeling quite amazing (except for some bad back pain) and was ready to give Fiona a tour of her new home. But, we stayed all day waiting for our obligatory 24 hours to pass. We kept busy by...

1. Watching Fiona get her very first hearing test. She passed!

2. Watching Fiona and talking about how cute she is.

3. Getting a surprise visit from our friends Torrey and Lisa. I took a photo of them with Fiona but I can't get it off my camera. :(

4. Getting a visit from Rick's brother, Jeff.

5. Admiring Fiona some more.

6. Admiring Fiona even more and speculating who she is going to look like. (Rick, of course. Are all my babies destined to look like Rick?)

7. Admiring Fiona sans clothing.

8. Playing dress up with Fiona and taking more photos.

9. Putting socks on Fiona and taking them off almost immediately after realizing that they were way too big.

10. Taking Fiona to the hospital's "Birthprint" photo booth and taking more photos of Fiona. Here's one of our favorites...

11. I also passed the time taking numerous trips to the "Nutrition Room" to sneak turkey sandwiches, pudding, jello, and juice. There aren't any photos to document this which is a good thing because the amount of food I ate is quite shameful.

As our 24 hour wait was almost over, Bob and Cathy brought Gwen to the hospital so that we could go home together as a family. Gwen was so happy to see Fiona again, and we were sure happy to see Gwen. I had never been away from Gwen longer than 1 night and I really missed her!

I was especially glad that Bob and Cathy let Gwen pick out her own outfit for the occasion (can anybody say Merry Christmas?) and remembered not to wipe the kool-aide stain (or whatever it was) off of her mouth. :)

Before they let us leave, they weighed Fiona one more time. This time she was at 5 pounds, 13.9 ounces, which was more than acceptable.

They also had to do one more jaundice check before we left. She didn't pass which meant that we were going to be stuck there for 2 more hours to wait for some blood work to come back. Bob and Cathy had to leave, so Kirk and Whitney were sweet to come over to bring dinner and help keep Gwen entertained.

We passed the time by trying another outfit on Fiona (the other one was too big anyway) and taking more photos...

Finally we got the OK to go, but not before we got held up again by the carseat-nurse-nazi's. They weren't happy with how Fiona fit in her carseat, but were finally satisfied after fitting her with an extra washcloth and two blankets.

Gwen was to her breaking point and wouldn't pose for our going-home family photo. But, you can catch a glimpse of her in all of her Christmas glory next to the nurse. The poor thing was sooo tired.

We were so happy to finally be going home!

Yes, they ARE car-seat nazis! I remember I was literally crying as Anna cried in her carseat as the nurses made her safe.
