Ward Campout

A few weekends ago, we went on our first camping trip since Gwen was born. Rick and I used to camp quite a bit before Gwen was born, but for some reason, we never really wanted to take a baby camping. We decided our ward campout would be a good opportunity to introduce Gwen to camping.

As it turns out, camping was a huge hit. Mostly, Gwen loved the tent and her sleeping bag. All she wanted to do was play in the tent with her friends the entire time!

We were able to get Gwen out of the tent long enough to have hotdogs for dinner.

After dinner, Gwen was right back in the tent. She had no interest in the campfire, smores, or anything. When it was time to put her to bed, she was more than happy to cooperate since it meant she got to sleep in her sleeping bag. She went right to sleep, and Rick and I enjoyed some time around the campfire with the adults.

We invited our good friends, Rich and Emily (Cole's parents). They are always up for a good time.

The next morning it was freezing. It was the only time we could get Gwen near the fire!

Once Gwen was warm, she again tried to persuade her friends to play in the tent. Olivia spent quite a bit of time in the tent too.

Once the sun came up, it was super hot. We went from freezing to sweating our butts off within 10 minutes. Gwen and Cole played in the swing while their daddy's packed up.

Camping completely wore Gwen out! She fell asleep on the way home, and we transferred her to her crib where she slept over 3 hours. We will definitely need to go camping again soon!
