Moving: The Concert

I was looking forward to Friday for quite some time. We woke up bright and early in the morning, packed up, and left Bob and Cathy's to spend the next few nights in Renton with my parents.

When we got to my parents' house, a truck came shortly after to pick up my car and ship it to Colorado. Each thing checked off of the to-do list put us one step closer to Colorado!

In the early afternoon, I kissed Rick and the girls goodbye and left with my Dad to the Gorge Amphitheater to see a Dave Matthews Band concert. I was SO excited. This was not only my Dad's first concert at the Gorge, but his first DMB concert. I took him once before to see Dave Matthews perform solo, but he had never seen him with the full band.

It was a gorgous day- perfect for a concert!

We got there in time to check out our seats and eat some dinner. A few minutes before the opening act came on, we were in our seats ready for the action. Dave always comes out to introduce the openers which is something I don't want to miss. Such a classy guy.

Dave introducing Alberta Cross

I didn't enjoy Alberta Cross all that much. I had a hard time getting pass the lead singer who had odd mannerisms. At some point I leaned to my dad and whispered, "That chick is so weird!"

"What chick?" he asked.

"The lead singer!"

He started laughing and told me the "chick" was a guy. That explained a lot.

In my defence, we were far away and "he" had a hat on and long hair. He also didn't have facial hair like in in pic I found online...

After Alberta Cross, we amused ourselves by taking pictures while waiting for the next opening act, Ben Harper.

Take note of the lady on the bottom right of the photo with glasses. More on her later

Ben Harper was pretty good, but I'm not much of a Ben Harper fan. It was a little wasted on me. I didn't dislike it as much as I expected. There is something about the tone of his voice that bugs me. Also, the song Burn One Down is the one of the dumbest songs I've ever heard. Anyway, here is Ben in all his glory...

And then, more waiting for Dave...

Finally, the show started, it was totally worth the wait! LOVED it! Our seats weren't bad either...

A few things worth mentioning....
1. A guy two rows behind us pulled his "thing" out and peed all over the place. He tried to deny it, but the "wetness" all over his pants, seat, and ground around him was a dead giveaway. The lady in the glasses got splashed and was livid! She made comments for the rest of the night. It was disgusting, but kind of hysterical. She kept saying things like, "This guy needs a diaper" or "Watch out for the guy with the teenie weenie, he might have to go again soon!"
2. I always seem to sit around people that like the take their folding chairs and move them off to the side so that there is more room to dance. They also do this to sneak in their friends with bad seats without being as obvious. This night was no exception. It's kind of annoying.
3. My dad was awesome and enjoyed himself despite drunk people (who pee their pants), and being crowded by enthusiastic dancers. My dad ROCKS!
One of the best parts of the day was driving, talking about music, and taking turns playing music on our ipods. We didn't get home till three AM. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
