A Perfect Saturday

Last Saturday, we visited one of our favorite places- Country Village. It was one of those outings where our timing was perfect and everything worked just how we wanted. These days don't happen often with a toddler.

For those that haven't been to Country Village, they have quaint little shops, cute cafes, a pond with ducks, playground equipment, and a little train that takes you around the grounds.

The first reason why our timing was so great this day had to do with potty training. I won't go into gory details, but everything happened at the right time. I was nervous we would get stuck in an area far from a bathroom. Turns out luck was on our side!

After a successful potty break, Gwen fed the ducks...

We wandered in a children's boutique that also does haircuts. I've tried to get Gwen an appointment a couple times in the past, but they are always so booked. You have to call several days in advance to get the time you want. But, as luck would have it, they had an opening right when we walked in!
Gwen was very nervous at first, but she definitely enjoyed sitting in the rocket ship and watching Thomas the Tank Engine. They even gave her a bin full of toys to distract her.
She was actually starting to enjoy it!
After the lady finished cutting, she put 4 ponytails and 1 hair clip in Gwen's hair. I thought it was a little odd. Maybe she was trying to hide a mistake? Gwen looked darling anyway...
She was glad to be done. She still was looking a little nervous.
After the haircut, we took Gwen on the train. Again, perfect timing. The train was about to leave right when we walked up. Had we been 30 seconds later, we would have had to wait 20 minutes for the next ride. After the train ride, we went to a cafe for lunch. The food was awesome! Rick's burger and fries were the best we've had in a long time. Gwen loved their hot cocoa. And of course, because today was our lucky day, they seated us right away! I love days like this!

I wish I could have watched Gwen get her haircut, and what a clever idea to put the children in a jet rocket, disguised chair, and with toys yet. Smart! I would like to see her hair down, because we don't get the full effect tied and pinned back.

I'm glad your day went so well.

That was a lucky/perfect day.

And you've got Damien Rice playing. Haven't listened to him for awhile...have you ever seen him live? Seriously amazing.

This looks like a fun place to hang out, Gwen is adorable! Brooklyns first hair cut was in the bathroom sink while she was screaming, then I gave her a popsickle so I could finish. Not a good idea! So, there was hair and popsickle all over the place! Very gross!! And her hair looked terrible because I couldn't cut straight. Now, I just take her to get it cut, much easier and she loves having someone else do it. Boys are easier, you can just buzz their heads.

That was the perfect day! Loved the hair cut too. :) I'm a big fan of Country Village. There's this Glass Blowing Gallery there where you can help make your own art piece. I went there with my sisters and mom and it was a blast. You learn something new and let's just say that the instructor/owner is...ummm...very easy on the eyes. :)

Her hair is adorable! It sounds like you had a great day at C.V. I love abbreviations... makes me feel important, and then I don't have to spell the whole word, even though the whole word was a lot less than my explanation for the abbreviation. Anyway, I love leisure days like that. Maybe I can drag Wade off to C.V. some time...
