Dinosaurs, a Zoo, and Getting Lost

After a few weeks in Colorado, we got a little bit tired of unpacking and organizing. It was time for an outing!

We decided to go the the Cougar Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. The Springs are about an hour away from our house, but we liked the idea of taking a nice Fall drive and seeing a bit more of Colorado.

We decided to take a small detour and drive through a little canyon that was rumored to be pretty. After a wrong turn and too much confidence in our GPS, we ended up driving through a national forest and added another hour to our travel time.

At one point, we thought we were back on track when our GPS told us a highway was just a few miles ahead. It turned out that highway was a trail head. After several more miles on a very rocky dirt road, we finally did reach civilization. It was a beautiful drive and the girls were happy, so we just laughed at our stupidity.

Lucky for us, our wrong turn(s) took us past a dinosaur museum that we had never heard of. Since we were way off schedule anyway, we decided to go in. Gwen, our dinosaur enthusiast, has never been to a dinosaur museum, so she was ecstatic.

Feeding the Dinosaur

Poor Fiona didn't quite share Gwen's enthusiasm

We eventually made it to the zoo. I must say, it isn't my favorite zoo as a whole, but the giraffe exhibit rocked.

The hippo feeding was pretty entertaining too...

Although it didn't go quite as planned, our first putting was a success!

Cool giraffes! If you guys ever find yourselves in UT you should definitely go to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving point. It's the best! (Oh and you should come visit us too) :)
