Dave Matthews = Yummy (But not as yummy as Rick)

This friday Rick and I went on an awesome date! We went downtown and attended an event that was part of the Seeds of Compassion Festival. F irst, we heard the Dalai Lama have an unscripted dialog about compassion with Dave Matthews and Ann Curry from NBC's Today Show. After, there was a suprise performace by Death Cab For Cutie. (I love their music, so this was a great suprise for me.) The night ended with an accoustic performance by Dave Matthews, and Tim Reynolds, who is an incredible guitarist. What an amazing experience!

The conversation portion of the evening was really cool. Dave was obviously extremely nervous and completely out of his element without a guitar in his hands. He was rocking in his seat and looked like he was just about to curl up in a fetal position. It is so cute that he is so humble. The Dalai Lama was adorable. He was very hard to understand, but I think I got the gist of what he was trying to say. My favorite point in the conversation was when they were discussing how inportant the role of a mother is when it comes to teaching their children compassion. They said that men can learn a lot from women. Dave said his mom was the queen of his world.

The Dalai Lama and Dave meeting eachother.

The conversation ended with the Dalai Lama giving Dave knuckles.

After the discussion, Death Cab for Cutie played a short set. We were really excited to see them live.

Deathcab = Not Yummy (But they play great music!)
Of course, the highlight for me was to see Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds perform. I've seen Dave in concert 9 times, and it never gets old. He was very chatty that night and talked a lot between the songs. It was half concert, half stand-up comedy. It doesn't hurt that Dave is pretty easy on the eyes....

I found several clips on youtube from the show. This one is my favorite because it included some of Dave's funny commentary...

I can't help but wonder if at least part of the reason you think that D.M. is so cute is because he and Rick have a simliar hairline? Just a thought.

Does Dave know you are his no #1 fan? I still laugh when I think about you getting moving boxes from him, taking them down the street, and back to your car. So funny!

Wow, I'm jealous! This is Susan Malmrose---Amber gave me a link to your blog. I've never seen Dave live (too expensive---I rarely go to big shows, only small ones), but his double live album is one of my favorite live albums of all time. I take it he's still living in Greenlake, then?

What a great experience, and full night. How lucky you are to have a fine husband who shares in your passion -- on a diff level of course.

Off-topic... we want to see photos of the living room. Lots of work, but worth the effort and time.

Emmy Loo is sad and bored. oxox
